My Guaraná Experience: Eugene On Android App Development

Eugene Iatsenko has always wanted to come to Canada. He was drawn toward the country’s nice people, beautiful nature and oceans and the spectacularly famous fall season. In April 2018, he came from Ukraine to Canada to work with Guaraná Technologies wanting to try something new and find different possibilities in a new country. As a child, he watched many films about North America and loves the fact that there is a lot of traveling to do in Canada.

Originally Eugene completed a Bachelor’s degree in History in Ukraine and almost completed a Doctorate degree as well – but ever since he was a kid, he has had a fascination with programming. He wrote his first game on a Spectrum computer when he was just 12 years old and has been a self-taught programming advocate ever since.

After studying history, Eugene realized it was not quite what he wanted to pursue. He worked as a regional sales manager for 10 years and then turned his eyes to programming, a passion that has never left the back of his mind, “As I said before, ever since my childhood I really liked programming with computers, so it was easy for me to figure out my next profession. That’s why I decided to change. ”

At Guaraná, Eugene appreciates sharing his knowledge with other coworkers and learning from them as well. He loves working on new interesting app projects that can help people solve their everyday problems, he said, “There are always challenges and knowledge that I can acquire from new projects and new experiences. I feel that I became a more efficient and experienced developer with each project. It is a profession that allows you to develop yourself.”

As a native Android developer, Eugene likes using tools and libraries such as Udacity, Android Studio, ReactiveX, Android Architecture Components, Dagger and Retrofit. He also likes to consult the Android Developers site, articles on Medium and watching the Android youtube channel to get the latest news and updates on Android development. According to Eugene, these resources are great for young developers just starting out to get their careers rolling forward, he said, “Practicing a lot is the key to success and believe in yourself.”
